Why the bike matters here

The route north is not one surface. Sealed sections give way to loose gravel and rough patches without much warning, and you'll be riding for hours at a time. A bike with real suspension travel, upright seating and a relaxed engine turns a punishing day into an enjoyable one.

Weight matters as much as power. If you can't pick the bike up on your own on loose ground, it's the wrong bike for this trip regardless of the badge on the tank.
